About: Why did I create this website for you?
I’m going to tell you a secret. If you ask any musician they may or may not tell you this… Creating music is self indulgent.
What I mean is we create music for ourselves, not always for other people. We sometimes use music to project our emotions. However, the music we create could still resonate with you. Sometimes you’ll relate to certain lyrics of a song. Sometimes the music will change your mood. Sometimes for the best, and sometimes for the worst. It could give you anxiety, or give you peace. It could make you feel sensual, or it can make you feel amped. It is an outlet not only for the listener but mostly for the musician.
But I’m going to change that. I want to make sure my music resonates with you. So instead of blindly going into my projects spending hours of work creating music without direction, I’m going to get YOU involved. Here’s how… Every week I’m going to post a rough draft of a song, and I want YOU to comment on that song. I want you to tell me what you like, and don’t like about the song. Then I will go back with YOUR suggestions and create a new song the following week for 12 weeks. When the 12 weeks are up, we will look back and see that we have created 12 songs. Together we will choose 3 songs that resonated with you the most. I will then go into the studio and focus wholeheartedly on those 3 songs and package to sell them as an official EP.
The album “Better Late Than Never” is a collection of songs I created over 15 years. (From the years of 1998 through 2013) They are experiments with R&B, Hip Hop, House, Neo Soul, & Pop. The genre I feel that would best compliment me was Neo Soul music. This is why most of the albums I create from here forward will be in that genre of music.
My goal is for you to see my progression from a “karaoke” type-of-singer to a focused musician. (Follow me on Periscope) It will be my goal to one day host a live concert here on my website. It will also be my goal to one day travel the US with my buddy Ryan Beke and play in several states. It’s also my goal to eventually learn to play the piano. (Read: How I Learned How to Play the Piano in 20 Hours)
Why did I wait so long to share my music?
Procrastination. Bottom line. I have no good excuse. Hence the title of this first album… “Better Late Than Never”.
Why did I finally decide to share my music?
I released “Better Late Than Never” because I was frustrated with my procrastination. Musicians are the worst critics of their own work. I am no different. I’ve recently learned the philosophy of “it’s all about Progress NOT Perfection”. And all perfection is another form of procrastination. So I released my songs whether or not I found it to be perfect. Although the response of the first album was not overwhelming, I’m glad I did! It sparked new life into my music creation. I am now motivated more than ever to take my music to the next level.
